Why Digitize Your Old Media?

Physical Media Doesn’t Last Forever

  • Several vintage Philips audio cassette tapes and their boxes, with some tapes in transparent cases stacked in the foreground.

    Reel-to-Reel Tapes & Cassettes

Use magnetic tape that degrades with age and environmental exposure

    Susceptible to:

    Reduced audio quality

    Dropouts and distortion

    Complete recording loss

  • Three vintage audio cassette tapes lined up, labeled as Mastering Audio Cassette, High Density Recording, and Rehearsal, with handwritten notes and brand names such as Ampex, TDK, and Sony.

    DATs (Digital Audio Tapes)

Prone to mechanical failure and signal dropout

Require specific playback equipment, which is becoming rare

  • A collection of CD cases stored in a cardboard box, with some CD titles visible on the spines, such as 'Speaking in Melodies,' 'Reignite,' and 'Friends.'

    CDs

More durable, but still at risk of:

    Disc rot

    Scratches

    Data corruption

Not a reliable long-term storage solution

Safeguard & Share Your Memories

  • A long hallway with rows of archival shelving, with a blurred door at the end and soft natural lighting.

    Archive Quality Preservation

We create archive-quality digital transfers of your media, ensuring your content is preserved for the future, no matter what happens to the original. Using industry-standard best practices, we ensure that the best quality digital version of your media is created, while leaving the physical copy in safe-storage ready condition.

    Professional Listening Experience

Using professional restoration tools, we carefully clean and enhance your audio to improve clarity and listening quality, always with a respectful approach that preserves the original character and integrity of the recording.

    Easily Share & Enjoy

With high-quality digital versions of your physical media, you can enjoy your recordings anytime, anywhere, and easily share them with family, friends, or collaborators.

Our Process

  • Assessment

We begin by carefully inspecting your tapes and noting any signs of damage or degradation, including:

    - Physical damage or broken components

    - Mold or dirt buildup

    - Signs of sticky shed syndrome or vinegar syndrome

    - Tapes with sticky shed may require a controlled “baking” process to temporarily restore playability.

  • Repair & Preparation

    Before transfer, we:

    - Perform any necessary repairs

    - Clean and prepare tapes for playback

    - Stabilize delicate media to minimize risk during digitization

  • High-Resolution Transfer

We convert the analog audio to archive standard high-resolution digital files using professional-grade equipment for optimal sound quality.

Open reel tape and cassettes will receive 96kHz 24-bit digital files

“Born digital” formats such as DATs and CDs will receive 44.1kHz or 48kHz 16 bit digital files

  • Documentation & Delivery

As part of the digitization package, we provide:

    - Photographic documentation of tapes and related materials

    - A detailed report on the transfer process

    - A hard drive and/or link to the digitized files

    - Consultation on best practices for long-term digital storage

  • Post Production (optional)

    Basic Post-Production:

    - File duplication

    - Global denoising

    - Volume level adjustments

    Detailed Post-Production:

    - Targeted denoising

    - Level matching across tracks or reels

  • Remastering (optional)

For clients preparing their audio for release or archival purposes, we offer:

    - Technical and creative enhancements

    - Final mastering to ensure the audio is polished and ready for distribution
